Goal & Global Context
My goal was to see how has the sport, squash shaped and created the beliefs and values of people, and how does the sport has an impact on people in their relationships. I wanted to do this by having several conversations with different people who have involvement like students, coaches parents, and even sports psychologists, to get a full and accurate analysis of different emotions or opinions or ideas. For my final outcome, I wanted to create an online website that serves as a platform for people to view my interviews and view their personal beliefs and values and see if they have similar or different ideas or opinions.
This goal was challenging for me as it pushed me to go out of my comfort zone by interviewing a series of people different people whom I may have not ever met or had any interaction with before using the ATL skill of communication. Additionally, it was hard for me to relate with some experiences and some opinions since people share different opinions and perhaps not have related to my opinions. This made my experience a little bit more difficult in order to understand and take different ideas into consideration. In terms specifically relates to squash, some people may have more experience than I do which makes it a little bit more difficult to understand and relate but also makes it easier for me to get an understanding of their progress and journey as well. Considering this, the Global Context that I felt most strongly connected to my personal project was ‘Identities and Relationships.’ This context ‘inquires into the nature of the self; beliefs and values’ in the case of my project squash players and others create beliefs and values through years of practice, training, and interaction with others by building relationships. Personally, by training for five years I was able to understand and relate to some opinions and shared beliefs and values with others related to the game. |
